I trained in magazine journalism at Cardiff University before moving to London to embark on a career in arts journalism.
I was assistant editor and then acting editor of International Arts Manager magazine, before becoming editor at leading London theatre website officiallondontheatre.co.uk, for which I interviewed numerous acting and directing stars (Christian Slater, Gemma Arterton, Sheridan Smith among them), reviewed West End shows and edited two print publications.
In 2012 I turned freelance, taking on commissions for titles including The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, FRANCE magazine, Adventure Travel, Living France, Coast and BBC Travel. I was theatre editor for Fest magazine (Festmag.co.uk), during the Edinburgh Festivals and a judge for the 2012 Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.
After moving to Switzerland in 2013 I began writing for anglophone Swiss news site TheLocal.ch and became editor in 2016, a role that saw me cover everything from the Swiss reaction to Brexit and Trump to rows over EU immigration, cowbells and washing rotas.
In addition, I’ve written in French for Swiss content agency Media Planet Switzerland, helped write and edit launch copy for Time Out Switzerland and currently contribute to new travel site needtoknow.club.
I’m also an experienced digital project manager, with clients including the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Society of London Theatre and London & Partners.
I’ll happily tackle any subject thrown at me, but I generally gravitate my writing towards the arts, travel and food.
